From Dockerfiles to Fast Starting VMs on a Millisecond Cloud Platform

Dockerfiles are the standard way to define apps to run on the cloud. However, they typically run as containers. But why not run them as secure, customizable, efficient virtual machines?

In this talk we present the Unikraft way of deploying images built from Dockerfile specs, as virtual machines to be run in milliseconds on the Unikraft Cloud platform.

We present the tooling and features behind the scenes that make this happen, and that result in fast booting, fast replying and highly resource efficient virtual machines. With some nice use cases and comparisons.
